Emergency Port Congestion Surcharge Announcement

In anticipation of a potential International Longshoremen Association (ILA) strike on October 1st, ports on the U.S. East Coast and Gulf Coast may experience disruptions. As a result, ocean carriers, including CMA CGM, EMC, HMM, and YML, will introduce an “Emergency Port Congestion Surcharge,” effective as early as October 11th. This surcharge could reach up to $3,000 per container for all shipments arriving at USEC and USGC ports.

Furthermore, CMA CGM will apply this surcharge to exports departing from these ports, with a fee of up to $2,000 per container. This temporary measure aims to offset additional costs caused by strike-related disruptions or labor unrest.

We will continue to keep you updated on how this situation may impact your shipments. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
